A Must See for Reading Street Users!

A very dedicated educator has created a fabulous site for Reading Street users. Mrs. Lewis’s site has resources for grades K-6th. The site has great Power Points aligned with each story. The site also has links to Spelling City pages that are aligned with each story. The site also has links to center materials, whole-group materials, small group materials, and many printables. The resources are endless and are from many different teachers. I have used this site many many times for my classroom and it has saved me so much time.

Great Free Teacher Resource: Teaching Channel

I enjoy websites that show other teachers ideas with pictures and videos. A great site that I have found is Teaching Channel. The site has materials for grades Pre-K through 12th. There are various topics and various subjects covered on the website. When you log on you will find so many videos that you will want to watch, but do not worry about needing to hunt for videos more than once. You can save videos to your planner or download videos for watching later. Videos are not the only learning tool, they also have their own blog with great ideas. Another great point of the website is that it is FREE.  I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do!

Fun Site to Teach Poetry!

Poetry is one of my most favorite genres to teach in reading. To help spread the love of poetry, I use the site http://www.gigglepoetry.com

The website has many different funny poems about teachers, school lunch, homework, and other topics students can connect to. I use the poems to teach similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, alliteration, assonance, rhyme scheme, and so much more. The site also has poetry theater, which is turns poems into short plays for students to act out. Best of all the site is FREE!
